Billie Joe Armstrong, líder de Green Day, sufrió una crisis nerviosa el pasado viernes 21 de septiembre de 2012 en el iHeartRadio Music Festival de Las Vegas. Todo comenzó cuando la organización, obligó a la banda a terminar su actuación antes del tiempo estipulado, Justo después de la interpretación de este Basket Case, lo que hizo que el vocalista de 40 años perdiera el control: -"Llevo en esto desde 1988, ¿y pretendes que termine en un minuto? ¡Tienes que estar de broma! ¡No soy el puto Justin Bieber, hijo de puta!" Tras esta explosión de ira, Billie destrozó su guitarra sobre el escenario y se marchó.
Al parecer la furia de Billie era provocada por que el cantante ha entrado en rehabilitación por su abuso de sustancias adictivas, algo que pudo haber influido en su reacción. De hecho, a principios de septiembre el grupo canceló un concierto en Italia, después de que Armstrong fuese hospitalizado por una deshidratación aguda.... Green Day ha publicado un comunicado oficial pidiendo disculpas a todo aquel que se sintiera ofendido por el suceso. 'Sentimos también posponer algunas de nuestras próximas actuaciones', concluye la banda.
Existen diferentes interpretaciones de la letra más allá del signifcado original.. Billie Joe ofrecen una yuxtaposición interesante en el género. Dice "I went to a shrink..." (fui a un loquero) "To analize my dreams" (para analizar mis sueños) "she says it's lack of sex that's bringing me down," (ella dijo que es la falta de sexo lo que me pone de bajón) pero en la siguiente línea, "I went to a whore, he said my life's a bore", (fui a una prostituta, y él dijo que mi vida era un aburrimiento), "so quit my whining 'cause it's bringing her down" (así que dejara de lloriquear porque la pone de bajón).
Esto podría ser una elección inteligente de palabras explicando que el motivo de la ansiedad de Billie Joe le hace confundir los géneros(síntoma clínico del pánico). Por otro lado también se ha especulado con que pudiera tratarse de una pista sutil sobre su bisexualidad, que más tarde admitiría en la revista americana The Advocate en 1995; la canción «Coming Clean» del mismo álbum, (Dookie) trata explícitamente sobre ello.El viedo Original....
Basket Case fue el segundo vídeo musical de Green Day. El vídeo fue grabado en un hospital psiquiátrico real llamado Agnews Developmental Center, que se encuentra en Condado de Santa Clara, California, a petición de los miembros de la banda. La institución de salud mental había sido abandonada, pero la mayor parte de la estructura se mantuvo en un estado descompuesto. Billie Joe also commented that " The only way that had of confronting it, was to write a song on it " .I have choosed this direct, with honoring to the Ramones and their shout Hey ho .. let's go!!
Different interpretations of the Lyrics exist beyond the original sense.. Billie Joe they offer an interesting juxtaposition in the kind. He says " I went to to shrink ..To analize my dreams she says it's lack of sex that's bringing me down, " (she said that it is the lack of sex what puts me of fall) but in the following line, " I went to to whore, I have said my life's to bore ", (I went to a prostitute, and he said that my life was a boredom), " so quit my whining ' causes it's bringing her down " (so it was stopping whining because it puts it of fall).
This might be an intelligent choice of words making clear that the motive of Billie Joe's anxiety makes him confuse the generes (clinical symptom of the panic).
