Esta obra de arte fue compuesta por Chris Martin al abrigo de la madrugada. Algo tienen las noches que a todos nos inspiran, a Martin a componer, a mi a hacer este blog para vosotros.

Chris Martin dijo que había estado escuchando toda esa tarde a la banda Muse... Al día siguiente, el embrión de "Cloks" fue presentado al resto de la banda y la magia actuó. Compusieron la canción y la guardaron en un cajón, ya que el álbum "A Rush of Blood to The Head" estaba completo...Chris se negó a dejar este tema en el cajón de las futuras..gran acierto.
La letra de la canción no es sencilla de entender, Chris Martin explicó que la canción trataba sobre un estado de impotencia,contradicciones y desesperación...

El título de la canción al igual que la letra, empuja al oyente a reflexionar sobre la obsesión del mundo con el tiempo, y la conecta con la idea de que hay que aprovechar mientras estamos aquí, vivos y presentes. Un "carpe diem" actualizado firmado por Coldplay.
